The making of Jolin Portrait 2 by grambo The making of Jolin Portrait 2 by grambo
It's done! Incidentally this is my first submission to resources...at the very least, I hope the suggestions I've given on brushes and such come in handy.

The finished work this is based off of is located [Here].

This was done in Corel Painter IX but I'm sure all the tools I've used are in older versions too.

Let me know what you think!
And as I mention in it, if you have any suggestions or improvements please drop me a message or two.

Thanks!

This is incredible! SO much help for me - I just started using painter ^^; Thanks for giving such a detailed explanation (brush type, size, opacity, process, etc) This tutorial deserves so much more attention than it already has.

That's very kind. I'm glad it helped. And I hope it encourages others to make more tutorials, since there's tons of tricks out there that people haven't explained yet...

That's... amazing. I hope I'll learn to do that eventually. Thanks for the helpful guide! (I just bought my tablet and it came with Corel.)

amazing!!!!! um..in one of the later steps, you said to go over everything with a white airbrush? which layer would you do that in? is the layer transparent?

Not sure if this is what you're after but that's probably the overlay.
In order to make things shine, create a new layer on top of completed coloring and set the mode to overlay. Then paint with a white airbrush, or really anything that gives you a smooth controlled flow. This will allow you to freely accent highlights as you see fit.
